REVIEW: La Roche-Posay Effaclar A.I

A little while back I enquired with La Roche-Posay as to what the difference between the Effaclar Duo and the Effaclar A.I was, they explained that the A.I is an intensive on-spot treatment whereas Duo is used on the entire face and very kindly offered to send me over a sample of A.I to see how I get on with it.

I am a huge fan of Effaclar duo and Effaclar K, both I use religiously and wouldn't live without (okay, well I would live but my skin would hate me!) so I was super excited to try this out and see how I find it.
I usually use my Elemis Clear Skin Spot Treatment for new blemishes and I expected it to be similar to that. However I was surprised to find that rather than a clear gel it is a creamy formula similar to the Effaclar K. It has the same scent as the rest of the range which I personally love, and instead of feeling like an astringent on the skin it feels much more moisturising and gentle.

I wouldn't say that this is crazy effective at reducing spots in comparison to my Elemis gel and I do think that is partly because A.I seems to be more nourishing in its formulation. However, one huge benefit I have found when using it is the reduction of scarring. I have really dark acne scars all over my cheeks and this little tube has helped so much in reducing the appearance of scarring that it is worth the money just for that.

Overall if you're looking for something to reduce a spot in the matter of hours then perhaps look for something slightly stronger - I would recommend the Elemis Clear Skin Spot Treatment but another that I have heard countless good things about is the Origins Super Spot Remover. However, if you're wanting something to reduce acne scarring and help to stop any pesky spots from reoccurring without drying or irritating you're skin, then this may be your guy!
